 A Raisin in the Sun movie is the adaptation of Lorraine Hansberry's play.  A Raisin in the Sun tells the story of a black family living in a small apartment in the inner city of Chicago. Sean combs, Phylicia Rashad, Audra McDonald, and Sanaa Lathan all return to reprise the roles they originally played on broadway in this made for televsion movied based on Lorraine Hansbury's play about a 1950s Chicago family longing for a better life .Sean Combs plays the role of Walter Lee Jr and leads a wonderful cast in the story of an black family in Chicago who are struggling with not having enough money, conflicts over religion and racism.  An insurance check can allow the family to escape their frustrating life in a crowded apartment in Chicago, but escape means different things to each member of the family. "A Raisin in the Sun" was the first play written by an African American woman to be produced on broadway. The title "Raisin in the Sun" comes from the opening lines of "Harlem" a poem by Langston Hughes-What happens to a dream deferred? does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?
